  • Therapy: In therapy, trained licensed clinicians help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives. Licensed clinicians apply research-based techniques to help people develop more effective habits. There are several approaches to psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal and psychodynamic, among others, that help people work through their problems. Psychotherapy is a collaborative treatment based on the relationship between an individual and a licensed clinician. A licensed clinician provides a supportive environment that allows you to talk openly with someone who is objective, neutral and nonjudgmental. Most therapy focuses on individuals, although psychotherapists also work with couples, families and groups. The right match when choosing a therapist/counselor is important. Most clinicians agree that an important factor in determining whether to work with a particular professional is your level of personal comfort with that person.
  • Child and Adolescent Program: A parent or legal guardian must attend the initial intake appointment with their child and will need to be available for ongoing treatment and treatment planning. In Maryland, a child who is at least 16 years old or older has the same capacity as an adult to engage in outpatient mental health services. In this case, the child will complete and sign the initial paperwork and ongoing treatment planning documentation.
  • Adult Program: Adults are responsible for making their own intake appointment. Some exceptions are made when the adult has limitations that make this difficult or impossible for them to do so. In these cases, it is usually a parent, guardian, or care provider who would schedule the intake appointment, and this person should also attend the first appointment to aid in the completion of the initial paperwork.
  • In Home Counseling Program: We provide in home counseling services to individuals who are unable to attend outpatient therapy appointments.
  • Substance Abuse Counseling: The specialty of helping people recover from their addictions. Substance abuse counselors work in this specialty and may counsel men and women of all ages. Substance abuse counselors aim to provide the advice, treatment and ongoing support necessary for addicts to recover. Counselors work with teams of healthcare professionals to address the physical, mental and emotional needs of each patient.
